About us
The German Communication Association (DGPuK) is the scientific and professional association of researchers, educators, and professionals in the areas of communication and media research.
The objectives of communication and media research are the social preconditions, consequences, and the meaning of mass media, public communication, and interpersonal communication. The discipline’s relevance lies in its importance of communication and media in our society today.
We understand communication and media research as a highly interdisciplinary, theoretical, and empirical social science. The research in our discipline adds to the public’s literacy and understanding of communication processes and media, solves applied problems in communication and media environments, and advances education and training in a dynamically growing industry. The history, presence, and future of communication and media in our society constitute the foundation of research and teaching.
